More About This Painting

Tru is the mysterious woman of Strange City. Quiet and elegant, dressed in neat, pristine clothes, with a gaze so sincere and almost sorrowful that it is rarely seen—always hidden beneath her flamboyant hats. No one really knows where Tru came from. In fact, in all of Strange City, no one knows… except me. Who am I? I’ll tell you later. When she rides her bicycle into the city center for errands, whispers follow in her wake: • “She seems noble… but from where?” one woman says. • “To me, she looks snobbish!” replies another. • “She’s friends with the Seer—watch out for her!” adds a third. Heads turn as she passes, yet Tru notices nothing. Everything about her is effortless—her stride steady, strong, fearless. And those eyes… blue, luminous beads, a gaze from both here and somewhere else.

Most believed she couldn’t speak their language—until that one day. That day when the whispers about her friend, the Seer, rose again, calling her lowly for having no husband, and mocking her child, Bamble, for being strange. Who saw Tru and did not feel awe? Her voice, though rarely heard, rang across the city. “How dare you label a woman who has only shown you kindness! She never troubled you—it is you who trouble her, because you cannot accept anyone or anything different from yourselves. Strange City! The perfect place for hypocrites!” The moment Tru spoke, it was enough to make everyone bow their heads in shame. This is Tru: a quiet, gentle force. In Strange City, kindness was mistaken for weakness—and even across the galaxy, the same error repeats. Then comes Tru’s voice: the voice of truth. Beautiful, fearless Tru.
